LUKWANGULE PEAK TRAIL IN ULUGURU MOUNTAINS, MOROGO LUKWANGULE PEAK TRAIL IN ULUGURU MOUNTAINS, MOROGORO REGION, TANZANIA

Lukwangule Peak trail starts at Kibagala Village with a fifteen minutes ride from the village to the starting point.

The start of the hike is very steep with the dirt hiking trail passing through small scale farms, village and houses. You have a chance of interacting with the local people and last minute snacks and water shipping. As you hike up you can be mesmerized by the scenic mountainous landscapes of the region

After about two hours, the trail takes you in the cool and enchanting untouched indigenous trees forest. The chlorophyll shadows of the exotic giant trees in the forest form the next part as the gradient gets easier

We continue our quest through the transition from the rain forest to the thick Montane Forest. In the forest you can spot three horned chameleons, monkeys and it's also a haven for bird watching. There are fresh water rivers where you can refill your water bottles.

The path out of the forest is a moderate ascent, as we branch out of the thick forest into the Lukwangule Plateau. The Plateau is the most scenic and less challenging part of the hike. It's mostly flat with moderate ascents hiking through the high altitude moorland ecological zone. On a clear day, you can see as far as Kibagala, Chenzema and The Greater Nyandira Village.

The hike then goes up the forests and plain empty grasslands before the final walk to the summit.

The peak rises 2656M ASL and offers mind-blowing views of the other peaks of Uluguru Mountains, Morogoro Town and Lukwangule plateau below.

Return to base on the same route.

The Lukwangule Peak trail is beautiful and moderate hike requiring previous hiking experience and intense preparation.

Lupanga Peak, standing at 2144M ASL on the Uluguru Lupanga Peak, standing at 2144M ASL on the Uluguru Mountains Range in Morogoro, Tanzania

The hike starts at Kibwe village, hiking through narrow dirt trails and traditional houses. After few minutes, there is a small Waterfall on a fresh water river that flows towards Morogoro Town.

The trail then enters a dense indenious trees forest. The forest is so thick and hikers can spot snakes, birds and black and white Columbus monkey. The forest hiking also offers amazing views of Morogoro Town, Bondwa Peak, Magari Mountain and other mountainous landscapes in Morogoro Town.

The trail finally reaches the final section of the mountain. This section is very steep and slippery and it demands extreme caution as you pull yourself up using roots, rocks and trees on the trail. Its so steep that coming down, it's recommended you slide down as opposed to walking.

Few minutes you get into the last ecological zone of Lupanga Peak - The Montane Forest ecological zone. The zone is very wet with trees covered by fungus, old man's beard and lichen.

The Summit has a good picnic section but unfortunately it doesn't offer any view as it's covered by trees.

BEST TIME TO WITNESS GREAT MIGRATION AT SERENGETI BEST TIME TO WITNESS GREAT MIGRATION AT SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK TANZANIA.

The best time to visit the Serengeti is from January to February or from June to October. However, the Serengeti’s density of wildlife offers a spectacular safari experience no matter what time of the year you visit. The park’s open plains and mild climate mean that vegetation is never too dense to see animals, and the region’s two short rainy seasons from November to December and March to April are rarely too unpleasant.
